Park Profile
Gondwana Namib Park
Gondwana Namib Park is situated 30 km south of Solitaire and 60 km north of Sesriem/Sossusvlei. The 100 km² area became part of the Gondwana Desert Collection in December 2004. It is here that sand dunes of the 'young' Namib (5 million years) meet the 'fossilised' dunes of the protomorphic Namib (about 20 million years). Gemsbok, Springbok and Ostrich roam the park.
Namib Desert Lodge lies at the foot of the 'fossilised' dunes. It consists of 46 en-suite rooms with private veranda, a restaurant complete with wine cellar, a terrace and a swimming pool.
Guests can join scenic drives in the park and go for hiking excursions. Most of all, however, the lodge is a great starting point for day trips to the narrow 30 m gorge of Sesriem Canyon (60 km) and to the clay pan of famous Sossusvlei (120 km)
which is surrounded by the highest dunes on earth.
The accommodation facilities generate the funds needed for nature protection and at the same time create jobs and offer Namibians a chance for advancement.
Shaped like a horseshoe, the Gondwana Desert Route connects Gondwana Caņon Park with the other three parks of the Gondwana Desert Collection.
Discover the delights of the desert - with the Gondwana Desert Collection from Park to Park through Namibia’s south.
